EV Charging Points

EV Charging Points

At SYR, being mindful of our impact on the environment is one of our top priorities. This is not just because, as a large scale manufacturer with bases all over the world, we feel we have a responsibility to minimise our carbon footprint, but also because it is the best way to maintain our planet and its resources for future generations. As a cleaning company, we also recognise that striving for sustainability in cleaning has benefits other than helping the environment; sustainable products and practices also often represent more efficient and future-thinking solutions and result in cost savings for businesses.

As part of SYR’s latest sustainable development of our business premises and practices to support the environment, we have recently installed two electric vehicle charging points at our main headquarters in Lye, Stourbridge.

Electric vehicles are a good option for those looking to go green. They are overwhelmingly more energy efficient than internal combustion engine vehicles, requiring less energy to travel the same distance, usually at a cheaper price too. Overall, the lifetime emissions of an electric car are more than 3 times lower than the average car powered by petrol or diesel, and as national power grids are increasingly looking to renewable sources of energy such as wind and solar power instead of traditional coal or oil power stations to generate electricity, then electric vehicles will only get greener.

Electric is also a comparatively clean source of energy, due to the fact that purely electric vehicles do not emit exhaust fumes – one of the most harmful aspects of traditional combustion cars, causing damage to both the environment and human health. As a result, using electric or even hybrid vehicles drastically improves air quality, particularly in large cities or high traffic areas, by reducing harmful gases, particulates and other pollutants that are released into the air.

The introduction of these EV charging points is another way that SYR is aiming to continually ensure that our business premises are a welcoming and modern place for our staff, customers and any other visitors. We also recognise that the lack of convenient charging points, compared to the frequency of other fuel stations across the country, is perhaps the biggest obstacle to many people wanting to make the switch to electric vehicles. Therefore, we hope that our EV chargers will encourage more people to use this kind of energy to power their cars, supporting SYR in our goal of driving sustainability in all we do in the process.
