WE ARE COMMITTED

TO SOCIAL IMPACT

> OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS A BUSINESS

Every business has an impact on society and the way that people live their lives, from the products and services they deliver to the way they operate, including employment practices and supply-chain decisions.

We are committed to social impact through the way we run our business. As long ago as 1954, we recognised that our employees should be well equipped, well trained and share in the profit they created. Over sixty years on, we continue to address societal issues and over the last live years we have supported multiple projects on a local, regional, national, and international level.

Our values guide everything we do as a business and the choices we make. They inform both our long-term strategy and the way we serve our customers on a daily basis. We are committed to building a stronger organisation that has long-term sustainability and enduring value.

We want to help our customers succeed. When we support them to make lasting improvements to their performance, we also help them to scale their contribution to society-including the goods and services they deliver, the jobs they create and the economic growth they drive. We continuously invest in research on some of the biggest issues Facing cleaning. We hope that our insights on these topics help to Frame and open up debates, bring new thinking and identify potential solutions. Our social impact matters to us.

AT SYR WE TAKE OUR ENVIRONMENTAL & SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES SERIOUSLY

> CHEMICAL OVERDOSING

The manual cleaning industry has three major impacts on the environment due to its us of water, chemicals and plastic.

WATER

Water is the world’s most threatened essential resource.

CHEMICAL

Chemical overdosing is a huge problem in the cleaning industry.

PLASTICS

Plastic can take thousands of years to biodegrade.

Harmonising environmental diligence with the commercial demands of cleaning is a challenge, however at SYR we focus on innovation that helps you meet sustainability targets, whilst also recognising the need to maintain your hygiene standards and strong budget controls.
We are moving towards ISO 14001 Environmental Management systems and we will work closely with you to help you meet your corporate objectives. We can introduce you to our latest innovative products and demonstrate best practice that will consider and identify opportunities to reduce waste, save water, limit energy consumption and lower chemical usage.

SYR IS PROUD OF ITS STRONG PARTNERSHIP WITHIN OUR GLOBAL COMMUNITY

COMMUNITY

For many years we have been volunteering, raising money and providing assistance to numerous community activities. We have litter picked, raffled, baked and donated. Here is just one of the many projects that we are proud to be associated with:

PROJECT GAMBIA

Ridgewood High School in Stourbridge, West Midlands, set up Project Gambia in 2007. Since then thousands of pounds have raised, and more than 500 students, staff and parents have travelled to The Gambia. Schools have been refurbished, classrooms built, resources provided, a nurse has been employed, Farms established and a solar-powered water pump installed. Mosquito nets, ‘Christmas Shoeboxes’ and thousands of items of clothing have been provided – and now cleaning equipment From SYR.

Every year SYR help the school fill a container with essential items which support two medical centres and several schools who have very Few resources. Many of the communities live in very basic conditions with no electricity or running water, so buckets and bowls are a great help as they use them For collecting water and washing.

Despite enjoying more stability than many West African nations, The Gambia is not a prosperous country. Only one-sixth of the land is arable and poor quality soil means it has just one main crop, peanuts. However three quarters of the population are dependent on agriculture.
