OUR HISTORY

1954

In 1954, Scot Young started a window and floor cleaning business in Toronto, Canada before returning to the UK to open our first offices in Glasgow and Manchester, followed by expansion shortly afterwards in London.

1957

1957 saw the window cleaning squeegee arrive in the UK with colour coding for cleaning equipment following shortly afterwards.

1980's

In the 1980’s the NHS replaced all cotton mops with our newly developed SYRtex mops and in 1985 we appeared on “Tomorrows World” with Filtakleen.

1990's

The 1990’s saw the release of our Long Tall Sally and Lady buckets in addition to SYRsorb and as we moved into the 21st century Scot Young Research won The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, mainly due to its renowned Interchange System.

2009

The Space Saver trolley first appeared in 2009 with the Rapid Mop system and MST both following in quick succession.

Scot Young Research’s innovation, invention and development has proceeded at such a rate that today sees three Manufacturing Bases in Great Britain USA and China, all with identical Tooling, Assembly Facilities and Warehousing and a mutual interflow of technological innovation and development.

Dedicated to helping cleaning organisations, the Scot Young Research International Cleaning Centre is a 5,000 sq. ft. facility put together and used primarily as a Training and Education Centre for all aspects of cleaning. It holds areas for display, demonstration and an information hall.

Since the very beginning our unique cleaning systems have been carefully designed and built to last, an ethos that is still very present in everything we manufacture today – innovation and quality is still at the heart of everything we do because cleaning matters.
